JOHNSTONE: Nothing to fear for Sask. in 2013

Triskaidekaphobia be damned! Saskatchewan residents have every reason to feel optimistic about ’13.For starters, 2013 is shaping up to be a banner year for the provincial and local economies.Saskatchewan is expected to have the second-best economy in 2013, with a growth rate of 2.9 per cent, according to an average of seven major forecasters. The Conference Board of Canada predicts Saskatchewan will have the top growth rate of 3.4 per cent in 2013, overtaking Alberta for first place, while RBC, Scotiabank, CIBC and TD are forecasting the province to have the second-highest growth rate in the nation. Coming off a year in which Saskatchewan finished in the top three in economic performance (with a projected 2.8 per cent GDP growth in 2012, behind Alberta and Manitoba at 3.8 and three per cent respectively), economic growth is expected to bounce back to 3.5 per cent in 2013, says RBC assistant chief economist Paul Ferley in his latest forecast. via Leader-Post – Business http://www.leaderpost.com/business/JOHNSTONE+Nothing+fear+Sask+2013/7778188/story.html
