Western Financial Supports Gull Lake’s Lyceum Theatre
Western Financial Group has announced that they will be awarding a $5,000 grant to the Lyceum Theatre in Gull Lake.
“Western Financial Group has a foundation set up, it’s called the Western Communities Foundation,” said Mike Vallee, the manager of the Western Financial Group branch in Gull Lake. “What it does is give back to the communities that we have offices in, and if there’s projects in the community, we get in touch with them and see if there’s any way that we can help out in some donations.”
The grant is one of 14 infrastructure grants totalling $70,000 that Western is distributing in 2013, and Vallee says the grant money will be used to improve the community-owned theatre.
“The Lyceum Theatre has upgraded their projector system, and I think it’s roughly a $100,000 improvement that they’ve made to the theatre,” he added. “We get in the community and it’s a small way to say thank you, because our theatre is very important in the community and something that everybody uses.”
The Lyceum Theatre is also benefitting from the SWT Sportsman’s dinner and auction to be held Saturday night, which features guest speakers Weston Dressler and Scott Schultz from the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The event will be held at the Gull Lake Community Hall and tickets are available by calling 306-672-4112.
