Southwest Records $1M in Land Sales

The April sale of Crown oil and gas rights in Saskatchewan brought in $7.7 million in revenue for the province, slightly down from last April sale.

“Had a reasonable sale really across the province,” said Energy and Resources Minister Tim McMillan. “The land acquisition numbers really spiked in 2008 and 2009 and since then, we have seen a ramp up in drilling. This past year we set a record for the amount of oil drilled in Saskatchewan.”

Swift Current came in with $1 million of sales, behind the Weyburn/Estevan area at $5 million, and the Lloydminster region at $1.1 million.

The price per hectare paid was twice what they saw in the February sale. Scott Land and Lease Ltd. purchased a 32-hectare lease parcel west of Shaunavon for $826,252, or $25,525 per hectare, the highest price paid on a per-hectare basis in the April sale.
