Saskatchewan’s average weekly earnings were $941.20 in February 2013, the third highest earnings among the provinces. That was an increase of 3.8 per cent over last February, the second highest percentage increase among the provinces.

“We’re seeing job numbers rise and unemployment numbers staying low,” Economy Minister Bill Boyd said. “And people are able to find jobs in areas that have higher earnings like mining, oil and gas and construction.”

On a month-over-month basis, Saskatchewan’s average weekly earnings increased by 1.9 per cent ($17.45) compared to the previous month, the highest increase among provinces and double the national increase of 0.9 per cent.

“Our economy is doing exceptionally well right now,” Boyd said. “What is more important is that Saskatchewan people are benefitting from that economic growth, and ultimately these higher wages are contributing to a better quality of life that the hard working men and women of this province deserve.”
