Great Plains College is expanding their programming for the 2013-14 school year.

The college is adding a full-time Office Administration program for their Warman Campus, and Third Class Power Engineering in Kindersley. Both programs are already offered at the campus in Swift Current.

“We know the need and demand is out there, and the opportunity to respond to that is extremely exciting for us,” said GPC Director of Programs Michelle MacDonald, who noted that additional government funding in the last provincial budget was also a factor in the program expansion.

She adds there are also plans to start at least two Heavy Equipment Operator programs for spring 2014. The locations for the programs have yet to be determined, but there is a possibility it could be offered in Swift Current.

“We are currently in discussions with quite a few RMs in the southwest part of the province, and there is certainly some interest,” MacDonald added. “We just have to work through details to see where projects and programs are most feasible.”

The last time GPC offered a Heavy Equipment Operator Program was in 2012 at the Warman Campus.
