Frontier Days Kicks off Today SouthWest Saskatchewan Tourism Cypress Hills & Area Attractions

It’s one of the biggest weeks of the year in Swift Current.

The 75th Anniversary of Frontier Days kicks off today.

“First of all we have the pancake breakfast, we’re going to have an actual kick off opening ceremony, we’re going to have a branding, we’re going to have parade marshalls that are actually from the 1938 parade,” said Event Development Coordinator with the Swift Current Ag & Ex Lenora Bells, “and then of course we have the midway.”

Bells said the annual event has grown so much in the past 75 years.

“In 1938, we had 25,000 people here and we were a city of 5000, and every year people keep coming back because of the fun and the enjoyment and the welcoming community we have and the more than 500 volunteers willing to take part, and we’re just so fortunate to have that in our community.”

The fair starts this morning with the W.W Smith Insurance Centennial Pancake Breakfast at Market Square.

Fairgrounds are open on the southside after the 4pm Kiddie’s parade, and the Florida Georgia Line Show starts at 8pm.
