Cypress Health Region Posts Surplus Health & Wellness SouthWest Saskatchewan  Cypress Health Region

The Cypress Health Region had a operating surplus of $2.65 million last year.

The numbers came out as the Health Board approved the their fiscal 2013 financial statements at last weeks board meeting.

The main reason for the surplus is simply jobs that were budgeted for couldn’t be filled.

Full Interview with Larry Alson{mp3}larryalson{/mp3} “We also had a couple of areas where under our revenue section what we call reciprocal billing, which is a revenue stream from people from other provinces using our facilities, we were $400,000 over budget and of course on the revenue side you want to be over budget,” said Larry Alson, Executive Director of Finance for the Cypress Health Region. ”

Alson added that client fees for long term care were also over budget and that contributed to the surplus as well.
