Spirit of Flight Tour Arrives at SC Airport
Swift Current’s airport is set to welcome some unique tourists.
Sixty to seventy aircraft from across North America are expected on Tuesday as a part of the Century Flight Club’s Cross Canada Flight Tour.
“There’s a group of pilots that typically make a flight across Canada once each year,” said Swift Current Airport Superintendent Todd Schultz. ” This year they’ve selected Swift Current Airport as a starting point in Western Canada.”
The planes will come in throughout the day on Tuesday before a steak dinner at night. They would then leave on Wednesday morning.
“We should have a wide variety of aircraft,” Schultz said. “They’ll typically be single engine recreational airport but they’ll range from old to new, low wing or high wing, slow or fast… it should be a good mix. The airport will be open for observation during the day (but) the usual restrictions will apply as it will continue to be an operational airport.”
The flight is led by Canadian aviation legend John Lovelace.
Tickets for Tuesday night’s steak dinner are available at the door. You can get more information by visiting www.crosscanadaflight.com
