Gull Lake Cemetery Sees Improvements
Earlier this year the Gull Lake Cemetery Committee held a cemetery clean up day to keep our cemetery clean, and continued with the restoration of the southeast corner of the cemetery. The Committee was grateful for the help of volunteers, and the Gull Lake School Track Team for the helping with the cleanup. Many of the grave covers and headstones in the southeast corner have been cleaned off, and bushes growing and around graves have been cut. Before the season is finished the committee hopes to spend a day and right some of the headstones with the help of Swift Current Monumental.
When you drive into the cemetery you will see a sheltered structure that will contain a map of the cemetery to help people find where their loved ones are resting. There will also be a garbage container placed near the structure to help keep our cemetery looking neat. These improvements in addition to the park benches last year are really making things look nice in our cemetery. There are also plans to put some signage up to make the cemetery easier to find for people not familiar with its location. The location was also recently added to Google Maps making its location easy to find for those with smart phones and GPS.
The Cemetery Committee is doing a great job keeping our cemetery clean and looking for ways to upgrade and enhance the look of our cemetery. All improvements made to the cemetery have been paid for from donations made to the town, and designated for the cemetery. We are all grateful to the Cemetery Committee for undertaking the important job of caring for our cemetery, as the resting place for our loved ones is important to us all. If you would be interested in helping the committee please contact the town office as volunteers are always needed. Or if you would like to make a donation to the cemetery fund it can be made at the Town Office. All cemetery donations go towards helping with needed maintenance, upgrades and improvements
Lastly, I would like to commend the Cemetery Committee for the important work they are doing and a job well done!
