Energy East Pipeline Going Forward Oil & Gas  Saskatchewan Oil Pipelines

With Keystone X-L still in a holding pattern, TransCanada Corporation is moving ahead with another major pipeline project.

This morning, they’ve announced they will proceed with the 12-billion-dollar Energy East project, which will move crude oil from Alberta all the way to Saint John, New Brunswick.

TransCanada says the pipeline will have a capacity of 1.1 million barrels per day and the projected route will use both new and existing lines, including some in southern Saskatchewan.

The project has been backed by provincial premiers, but faces opposition from environmental and other groups.

It also requires regualtory approval from the National Energy Board.
