Some SaskEnergy customers will be hoping for a mild winter.
The Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel has approved the first part of the Crown natural gas provider’s request to increase rates in 2013 and 2014.
The panel approved a rate increase of 3.6% to take effect on September 1st, pending approval by cabinet. The application for a 2.4% increase to take effect in September 2014 will be decided at a later date.
SaskEnergy says the rate increases are needed to respond to rising costs from a growing population and safety and infrastructure concerns.
