South West Terminal makes top 100 list
By Craig Baird
When a company is listed as one of the top 100 in Saskatchewan it is a good thing. When a company is not only listed, but has gone up nearly 20 spots from the previous year, it is a very good thing.
That is the case for South West Terminal, who now rank #35 in terms of the Top 100 Companies of 2013 in Saskatchewan.
The list, put together by SaskBusiness, ranks the best companies in the commercial sector. One requirement of retaining a position on the list is that a company must see a minimum 10 per cent increase in sales.
South West Terminal saw itself jump from #52 to #35. In addition, at 45 employees, it is the smallest on the list after Prairie West Terminal, which has 30 employees. In contrast, the largest company on the list has 8,000 employees.
Just an idea among a group of area producers in 1994, the company opened its doors to producers on Jan. 8, 1997. It was the first producer-owned terminal in southwest Saskatchewan. Since then, the company built its first crop inputs location in Gull Lake, followed by three more input services in Hazenmore, Cabri and Shaunavon.
