Town committees and boards need you!

Being a part of the town for many means getting involved with boards and committees. With the fall season now here and many boards and committees begin meeting again, there is the call out to anyone interesting in joining and helping out.

Several boards, including the Economic Development Committee and Event Planning Committee, are looking for people to join up and help out in the growth of the town in a variety of areas.

“The Event Planning Committee is responsible for planning the annual Winterfest event and they could also use some help,” Mayor Blake Campbell said. “Anyone interested in sitting on committees can call me at 306-671-7499.

Generally, committees meet once per month in the evening and the time commitment is not too intense.

“While attending meetings is important, we need people who can help take on tasks outside of meetings,” Campbell said. “Tasks typically don’t take much time to complete, but are important to keep the committees moving forward.”

As always, the biggest reward is knowing you are helping to make your community a better place.

“We have opened up our committees to include members of the public to allow for public input,” Mayor Campbell said. “The work being done on these committees is very important and we are giving people a chance to play a part in the decision making.”

There are no requirements to joining a committee beyond a willingness to help.

“We don’t care if you have lived here all your life, or just recently moved to Gull Lake,” Mayor Campbell said. “We are looking for positive thinking people with a desire to help us move our community forward.”
