Sask. spending slows in Sept.
REGINA — Saskatchewan posted $1.54 billion in retail sales in September, a modest 0.8 per cent gain from $1.53 billion in August and a 2.2 per cent increase over $1.51 billion in September 2012, Statistics Canada said Friday.
But most of the gain was reported by motor vehicle dealers, leaving other retailers to fight over a dwindling consumer spending dollar, according to Doug Elliott, publisher of Sask Trends Monitor.
