Lamb producers get $1.4M for new grading system

Canadian lamb producers will receive $1.4 million from the federal government to develop and implement a new meat grading system, Michelle Rempel, minister of state for Western Economic Diversification, announced in Regina Friday. The computer indexing and grading protocol will provide the newly-formed Canadian Lamb Producers Co-operative access to data that will ultimately lead to increased farm cash receipts through improved flock genetics, better feed management practices and reduced operating costs, the federal agency said.
