South West Terminal (SWT) presented Farm Credit Canada (FCC)’s Drive Away Hunger program with a cheque for $10,000 on Dec. 6 in support of local food banks.
SWT was one of the first grain terminals in Canada to spearhead FCC’s new Give What You Grow program – designed especially for producers to help feed hungry people in our communities.
Producers delivering to SWT terminals this harvest had the opportunity to donate a portion of the cash proceeds to this year’s FCC Drive Away Hunger program – which raised 6.5 million pounds of food across Canada and over 670,000 pounds in Saskatchewan.
Out of the $10,000 donation today, $5,000 was raised from SWT customers and employees, and the other $5,000 was matched by the company. One hundred per cent of all Drive Away Hunger donations go towards local food banks.
