Gull Lake Legion awards Military Service Pins

Today the Gull Lake Legion #119 officially honored its remaining WWII veterans with the The Lieutenant Governor’s Military Service Pin.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Military Service Pin symbolizes the gratitude of the Crown and the people of Saskatchewan for those who have served with honour and valour. The pin is intended to be worn on civilian clothing, so that we might recognize those who serve when they are not in uniform.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Military Service Pin is available to veteran and military organizations and to individuals by completing the on-line application form. The pin is intended for individuals who have lived in Saskatchewan. The following are eligible to receive the pin:

– Current and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces (Regular and Reserve Force);
– Current and retired members of the Canadian Rangers;
– Current and retired members of police forces who have served in military operations.

According to Dick Wells, President of the Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Legion, the Gull Lake branch was officially the first branch across Saskatchewan to award The Lieutenant Governor’s Military Service Pins.
