Multiple award winning country group Doc Walker will be performing a concert in Gull Lake on Jan. 24
Fresh off a five day stint onboard the 2013 CP Holiday Train, the chart topping country group from Manitoba will be making one of just two January concert date appearances at the Gull Lake Hall.
Six of Doc Walker’s seven recordings have earned Juno nominations, and the group has collected a total of 11 Canadian Country Music Association awards over the past decade.
Doc Walker won the 2009 Juno Award in the Country Recording of the Year category for their release Beautiful Life. They also earned Juno nominations in 2012 (country album of the year for 16 & 1); 2010 (country album of the year forGo); 2007 (Country Recording of the Year for Doc Walker); 2004 (Country Recording of the Year for Everyone); 2003 (Country Recording of the Year forCurve); and 2002 Best New Country Artist/Group.
Among their highlight CCMA award wins were twice winning Album of the Year for Beautiful Life in 2008 and their self titled Doc Walker in 2007. They have collected a quartet of CCMA Group or Duo of the Year awards over a span which includes 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2004.
Their first major release was 1997s Good Day to Ride, and they have followed up with a string of successful releases including Curve (2001), Everyone Aboard(2003), Doc Walker (2006), Beautiful Life (2008), Go (2009) and 16 & 1 (2011).
Proceeds from the Jan. 24 concert will support the Gull Lake Swimming Pool.
