For the second year in a row, South West Terminal (SWT) will be hosting a special Sportsman Dinner and Auction to benefit a local organization in Gull Lake. The first Sportsman Dinner and Auction brought in $40,000 for the Lyceum Theatre last year, helping to pay for the theatre’s digital upgrade.
This year, SWT is bringing three members of the Grey Cup winning Roughriders out for the dinner, including Mike McCullough and Geroy Simon (all-time CFL leader in receiving yards and pass receptions), as well as Matt Dominguez.
“It is a great evening. There is supper and servers will provide everything. They will be serving drinks as well,” Corinna Gibson with SWT said. “There is a live auction and silent auction as well.”
Some of the items available at the live and silent auction includes several Roughrider jerseys, fitting in with the general theme of the entire night.
Prior to the dinner, there is an all-ages autograph session at the Gull Lake Community Hall, which is open to everyone and no tickets are required. The dinner and auction is for those over the age of 19, with tickets costing $100 per person, or $800 per table of eight.
Autumn House is benefiting from the dinner this year, with all proceeds going to the important organization.
“They are another part of our community that could use some support, because they are a non-profit organization that operates on money they receive from fundraising and rent from their residents,” Gibson said.
Tickets are still available, and SWT is hoping to raise as much as possible for Autumn House from the dinner and auction. Michael Ball, the co-host of the #1 morning show in Regina, who is also the play-by-play voice for the Regina Rams, will be the MC for the entire event.
The autograph session runs from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., cocktails are at 5 p.m. in the hall and dinner is at 6 p.m.
