Despite lower rate, Sask. still has lots of job openings

Saskatchewan and Alberta saw their job vacancy rates decrease in December, but still have the lowest number of unemployed persons per job opening, and consequently the highest job vacancy rates, in the country, Statistics Canada said Tuesday. In Alberta, there were 2.3 unemployed people for every job vacancy, up from 1.9 in December 2012, as the number of unemployed people in the province increased. The ratio for Saskatchewan was 2.4, up from 1.8 a year earlier, as the number of vacancies fell faster than the number of unemployed people, the federal agency said.
