Cypress Health Closer to Wait Time Goal
Written by Colin Powers on Tuesday, 25 March 2014
The Cypress Health Region is continuing to lead the way in reducing wait times for surgery.
The Ministry of Health gave an update on the Saskatchewan Surgical Initiative, and between November 2013 and January 2014, 99.7% of all surgeries performed in the Health Region were completed within three months, the best average in the province.
The Saskatchewan government set a goal four years ago of having patients wait no longer than three months for surgery by the end of April 2014. With the target date coming next month, the Initiative showed that 80.2% of surgeries provincewide were completed within three months between November and January.
The Health Ministry also reported that 4608 patients were waiting longer than three months for surgery across the province in January, down 10,755 from when the initiative began in March, 2010.
