Saskatchewan construction activity jumps up in April

Saskatchewan building permits reached $249.2 million in April, up 29 per cent from $193.1 million in March and up 1.9 per cent from $244.5 million in April 2013, Statistics Canada said Thursday. Non-residential construction saw the biggest increase, nearly doubling to $123.7 million from $62.9 million in March and more than twice the $60.1 million posted in April 2013. Residential construction activity was slower at $125.5 million in April, down 3.6 per cent from $130.3 million in March and down nearly 32 per cent from $184.4 million in April last year.
