Panel Approves SaskEnergy Rate Increase
Written by Chris Rasmussen on Tuesday, 17 June 2014
The Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel has given the green light to a natural gas hike after SaskEnergy made an application this spring.
The Crown Corporation had asked for a 26.7% rate increase to take effect next month, working out to nearly $10 per month for the average homeowner. It’s their first rate increase in six years and SaskEnergy says it was needed after a winter that saw natural gas usage spike because of the cold conditions on the prairies.
The final decision on the rate increase will be made by cabinet.
