Lovers of nature looking to celebrate national pride this Canada Day weekend in nature can visit national parks across the country for free.

Grasslands National Park is the nearest destination for national parks in the Swift Current area open to visit.

Interpretation Officer Co-ordinator Carrie Clausen says the staff can help you in your trip to the park.

“I definitely recommend stopping by the visitors centre in Val Marie and chatting with us a bit, we can give you updates on the weather, and what’s going on with the programs, where to start, where to meet, and all the activities on the weekend. Tomorrow we start with dog town chatter program. It’s a family program starting at 4pm in the park; we’re going to go explore the prairie dog colonies. We have a movie starting in the evening starting at dusk in the campground. Sunday we have a hike going out and then also on July 1st we have a hike going out too.”
