This week the Gull Lake Water Plant received some much needed maintenance. The main distribution header that supplies water to the Towns distribution centre was replaced along with a distribution pump. The new distribution pump will have a motor with a Variable Frequency Drive, and the motor on the second pump will also receive a VFD upgrade. The VFD motors will allow for more consistent water pressure, and reduced power consumption. The cost of the maintenance done at the Water Plant this week will be approximately $100,000.
While it was hoped that maintenance would be completed by today circumstances dictated otherwise, and remaining work will be completed on Monday. Once the work is completed water sampling must be done for two consecutive days. These samples are sent to Provincial Labs in Regina and reported to the Water Security Agency. If the drinking water is proven to be bacteriologically safe to consume, the advisory will be rescinded by the Water Security Agency. .
This means that the Precautionary Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect. If all goes well we hope to have the Precautionary Boil Water Advisory lifted later next week. Town Council appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding while this important maintenance is completed.
