Harvest operations nearing completion in Sask.

Harvest is all but complete, with 95 per cent of the crop now combined, slightly ahead of the five-year (2009-2013) average of 94 per cent, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture’s weekly crop report. Warm, dry weather in the past few weeks helped farmers catch up to the five-year average, despite a late start to seeding this spring and harvest operations this fall. “We got a large chunk of the crop off in three weeks,’’ said Shannon Friesen, cropping management specialist with Saskatchewan Agriculture in Moose Jaw.
