Saskatchewan’s 2014 crop showing average yields, below-average quality

The 2014 crop is expected to be slightly above average in size, but well below average in terms of quality, due to excess moisture and delayed maturity, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture’s final crop report of the year. “Cereal and pulse crop quality remains an issue for much of the province, with the majority of cereal and pulse crops rating well below the 10-year average (2004-2013),’’ the report said Thursday. “Yields vary throughout the province and are reported as average in most cases.’’
