Southwest Saskatchewan still has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Canada.
The latest job numbers put the jobless rate for Swift Current/Moose Jaw at 2.0% in October, down from 2.7% in the same month in 2013.
It’s the second-lowest regional unemployment rate in all of Canada behind northeastern British Columbia, where Stats Canada reported an unemployment rate of zero.
The number of people working stood at 53,100, up 1,900 from October 2013, and the Labour Force population also grew by 1,600 to 54,200 over the past year.
Saskatchewan’s unemployment rate was at 3.7%, while nationally, the jobless rate dropped to its lowest in six years at 6.5%.
