Tompkins Gun Show Returns This Weekend

Written by Penny Schreiner on Friday, 30 January 2015

A local tradition for 27 years returns to Tompkins this weekend.

The Garden Head Gun Club’s annual gun and hobby show goes Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Tompkins Community Centre.

Organizer, Bruce Martin, says they usually see between 500 and 800 people through the doors, adding there will be guns, knives, crafts, collectibles and home baking available, but says they have lost a few collectors over the past year.

“One of the main ones was Mike McGee, and the family has decided to display his world-class collection again,” Martin said. “There’s other dealers as well… Greg Illerbrun from Swift Current has a nice collection of Winchesters, and there’s lots of things for everybody to see.”

There will also be a concession on site both days and Cowboy Action Shooting Demos both days, and the Tompkins Legion is serving up breakfast both mornings from 8:00am to 10:00am.

Admission is $5.00 for the day or $8.00 for the weekend.
