Sask. inflation rate at 1.4% in January

Inflation in Saskatchewan increased 1.4 per cent in January over the same period in 2014, second-highest year-over-year increase among the provinces, next to Ontario at 1.6 per cent, and above the national average increase of 1.0 per cent, Statistics Canada reported Thursday. But the cost of the basket of goods that makes up consumer price index (CPI) in Saskatchewan actually declined slightly (0.1 per cent) in January compared with December, the federal agency said.
