Sask. inflation rate reaches 1.4% in March

Saskatchewan’s inflation rate was 1.4 per cent in March, up from 1.2 per cent in February, reflecting a trend toward lower inflation due falling gasoline prices, offset by rising shelter costs, according to data released by Statistics Canada Friday. Doug Elliott of SaskTrends Monitor said shelter costs rose 3.0 per cent in March, despite falling resale home prices. “There doesn’t seem to be any slackening off in rents,’’ Elliott said.
