The Gull Lake Swimming Pool has a new name! The pool officially opened today as, “Crescent Point Pool.” The Gull Lake Recreation Board was very pleased when Crescent Point contributed $25,000 to obtain naming rights for the pool. The funds are greatly appreciated as the Swimming Pool has undergone some major renovations. Last year, a pool liner installation was partially completed and the remainder of the work to be completed this September. The total cost of the pool renovations was $100,000.
The Town Crew has been busy this past week getting the pool ready for the 2015 season. With the pool full of water, lifeguards are on duty and today was the first day of swimming at the Crescent Point Pool.
The Swimming Pool is the centre of lots of activities and fun from June to August. Starting in June, the Gull Lake School uses the pool for its Physical Education Program. GLSP runs the Lifesaving Societies SWIM program for lessons, which start in early July. When lessons are not on, the pool is full of swimmers trying to beat the summer heat through public swimming, early bird swim, lane swim, AquaFit, and various clinics.
