At their latest meeting of town council, Gull Lake approved a measure to improve safety around the community pool, a measure that all began from a seven year old boy from Calgary visiting his grandparents.

Douglas Hsu is a big fan of Crescent Point Pool in Gull Lake when visiting grandparents Dale and Debbie Connick, and he became concerned last summer that traffic was too fast in the area with other kids like him around.

“Once it was brought to our attention we got thinking..it is a busy part of the town in the summer,” says Gull Lake Mayor Blake Campbell. “You do have a lot of kids that are walking between cars and going across the street, so it definitely made sense to make drivers aware to slow down and watch for kids.”

The seven year old took his concerns directly to Gull Lake town council, and suggested a slow down sign be put up to warn motorists. He penned his thoughts in a handwritten note….
