The elusive water main break that caused the weekend disruptions to the town’s water supply and a boil water advisory has been located. The cold weather and frozen ground kept the water below the ground through the weekend but finally surfaced on Sunday near a manhole on 7th street. The area of the break was identified and isolated on Sunday enabling water distribution to be restored to the town. The area isolated was on Kings Avenue between 6th street and 7th leaving Condor Enterprises and Southern Pressure Testers without water. The estimated amount of water lost exceeded 1,000,000 liters.
The hunt for the exact location of the break started on Monday and was found late today on 6th street. The break will be repaired tomorrow, and water restored to the affected businesses.
We would like to remind everyone that the boil water advisory remains, in effect, and we will let everyone know when the advisory is lifted.
