The Economic Development Committee has had a busy year and is currently working on a number of projects. This year the committee has had a number of very successful trade fairs at the Elks Hall with a variety of vendors. The trade fairs give vendors an opportunity to sell products, bring people to the downtown and raise revenue for the Elks Hall. The trade fairs have also given the EDC a chance to sell some great T-shirts that promote pride in our community. The EDC will be hosting a Wine Tasting Event/Fundraiser Thursday. Nov 21st. Save the Date… Your Taste Buds will want to be there!!! More Details coming soon….
The Economic Development Officer helped the owners of Guang Dong Palace take advantage of the Town’s Facade Improvement Program. EDC committee and community volunteers also helped give the Guang Dong Palace a new look.
The committee is looking at a number of potential uses for the Warrens’s Funeral Home including a new name. To assist the committee with their plans the council has approved new metal roofing and flooring for the building. Committee volunteers will also give the interior a fresh coat of paint, Be sure to stay tuned for more announcements on the future plans for this building.
The committee is also considering a variety of options/ideas for improving signage for downtown businesses and promoting the community. The Town will be acquiring the first sign on the #1 Highway in the eastbound sign corridor, and the EDC will be working on a design to promote the community. The committee is also looking at design ideas for the sign located in the vacant lot on Proton Avenue.
