On November 9, 2020 municipal elections will be held and I will be running for position of councillor of our community. For those of you who do not know me, I have lived in Gull Lake for most of my life. I am married to David Waiser who is currently the chief of Gull Lake Ambulance Service. I have two children. My oldest son graduated from Gull Lake school and is now in his last year of Respiratory therapy at SAIT and my youngest son is in Grade 4 and attends Gull Lake School. He is very active in many school and community activities.
I was extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve the people of Gull Lake for 19 years when we owned and operated the Cedar Restaurant. As a small business owner, I know what it means to have community support to ensure success. After the sale of the restaurant I commenced my municipal career working on a casual basis with the Rural Municipality of Gull Lake No.139. I am currently employed with the Rural Municipality of Swift Current No. 137 since 2018. For the last three years I have also been the board of revision secretary for seven surrounding municipalities. I completed my Local Government Authority certificate through the University of Regina in 2018. I am continuing to enroll in classes in municipal governance to further my knowledge.
I am presently the secretary for the Gull Lake student community council and have served half a term on the Gull Lake Athletic Association. I have a long history of community involvement and volunteering my time. I was heavily involved in my oldest sons sporting activities by helping the coaches and I managed my son’s hockey team.
If elected for town council, I plan on using my experience and knowledge that I have acquired from working in municipal government to better serve this community. I would love to see this town flourish with more businesses being opened and new families moving in. The town needs to continue to expand and I would love to be given the opportunity to work with the residents of Gull Lake to ensure growth of our town. I strongly believe in accountability and I trust that the best way for council to achieve this is through a strengthened relationship between the residents of Gull Lake and town council. I am an extremely hard worker, I am dedicated and opened minded. I am a passionate individual and I will always do what ever it takes to get the job done.
Serving on the town council would allow me the opportunity to give back to the community of Gull Lake and ensure its growth and success. On November 9, 2020 I would appreciate your support in the upcoming election.
