The improvements were made thanks to the Cemetery Committee’s project recommendations made to Council, and their volunteers.
Volunteer Cleaning Headstone at Gull Lake Cemetery
Volunteers Trimming Bushes @ Little Green on the Prairie Park
This is the last week before the Communities in Bloom judges arrive. This year CIB Judges Bonita Lundberg and Kathleen Sproat will arrive on Sunday to evaluate our community. Communities in Bloom Volunteers were busy this past week finishing some final projects. Sarah Kuntz worked on updating our community profile book that is used by the judges in evaluating our community. I put a fresh coat of paint on the fence next to Guang Dong Plalace. On Sunday myself and volunteer Sukhraj Siingh Jawanda trimmed the hedges and raked the leaves at Little Green on the Prairie Park.
This week the CIB Committee will announce the winners of this year’s business, and residential competitions. Cemetery Committee Volunteers will also be cleaning more headstones and grave covers at the cemetery. The Town Crew will be busy this week street sweeping, cutting grass, and doing their best to have the town looking great for the evaluation.
Communities in Bloom Volunteers, Town Crew, Residents and Businesses Owners have done an excellent job making our community look great. We have come a long way in a few years scoring just 2 blooms when we first evaluated in 2013 and last year four blooms. This year we will cross our fingers and hope for five blooms.
