Advisory Boards and Committees
The Town of Gull Lake is fortunate to have many residents who volunteer their time to help make our community a better place to live. Residents are encouraged to participate within the community by volunteering for one of our advisory boards or committees. The purpose of our Advisory Boards and committees is to promote and strengthen our community.
Who is Eligible?
To sit on one of our Advisory Boards or committees you must be a resident of the Town of Gull Lake, or live in a neighboring municipality. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
If you would like to sit on one of our Advisory Boards or committees’ contact the Town Administrator.. Indicate which committee you would be willing to join, and any relevant experience you may have. Council will appoint qualified candidates to fill vacancies, and applicants will be notified of the final determination by mail.
Town of Gull Lake Advisory Boards and Committees
Helps promote and encourage the enjoyment and appreciation of the Cemetery; Identifies opportunities for the enhancement of the Cemetery; Assists in the restoration, preservation and maintenance on the Cemetery grounds; In a well-planned and respectful manner;
Communities in Bloom Committee
Helps facilitate the Town of Gull Lake’s participation in the, “Communities in Bloom Program,” with a focus on flowers, landscaping, gardens, down town beautification and environmental awareness
Economic Development Committee:
The Economic Development Committee, a committee of council, that makes recommendations to Council, on matters that will foster and enhance business retention and expansion in the community.
Event Planning Committee
The purpose of the Events Planning Committee is to plan, develop and administer the overseeing of the annual Winterfest Event held in February.
Is responsible to make recommendations to Council regarding the restoration of the Wong Guy Shoe Shop Herritage property. The committee will identify and evaluate properties and artifacts in the Town of Gull Lake, which have historical value and recommend action to Council. It will also advise Town Council on community heritage issues, and actions needed to preserve these sites. It undertakes information projects, community education and fundraising events in support of historic preservation, and researches properties deemed valuable.
Gull Lake Housing Authority Local Board Appointment
The Gull Lake Local Housing Board works with the Saskatchewan Housing Board to provides safe, affordable, independent living housing opportunities for low-income seniors. The Town is responsible to appoint individuals to the committee on as-needed basis, and all appointees are approved by the Saskatchewan Housing Authority.
Gull Lake Library Local Board Appointment
The Town of Gull Lake makes annual appointment to the Gull Lake Library Local Board. The Local Board works with the Chinook Regional Library to provide library services to the Gull Lake Area.
The Tourism Committee promotes the development and performance of Tourism for the Town of Gull Lake. The committee also oversees the operation of the Gull Lake Museum and Campground.
